How do we collect information from you?
We obtain information about you from data sources where you have opted in to receive information or advice on improving your home finances, reducing monthly bills, improving costs of energy, interested in finding better ways to manage your finances, reduce monthly spend or manage home economics better going forward:
What type of information is collected from you?
The personal information we collect, store and use might include:
· your name and contact details (including postal address, email address and telephone number);
· your date of birth;
· information about your activities on our website and about the device used to access it, for instance your IP address and geographical location;
· your bank details. If you make a decision to switch supplier onto a direct debit payment arrangement those details are collected by our third party payment processors, who specialise in the secure online capture and processing of credit/debit card transactions;
· any other personal information shared with us.
· Your energy consumption, current payment arrangements and energy supplier details
· Details of your home, number of bedrooms, type of building
Data protection laws recognise certain categories of personal information as sensitive and therefore requiring greater protection, for example information about your health, ethnicity and religion.
We do not usually collect sensitive data about you unless there is a clear and valid reason for doing so and data protection laws allow us to.
Where appropriate, we will make it clear why we are collecting this type of information and what it will be used for.
How and why is your information used?
We may use your information for a number of different purposes, which may include:

· processing orders that you have submitted;
· carrying out our obligations under any contracts entered into between you and us;

· Energy Supply companies that have been chosen by you as a result of a savings consultation and that you have entered into contract with. The list of suppliers changes from time to time but currently may be
In addition we may share your information with your explicit consent with My Utility Genius Ltd. who may be able to provide additional assistance saving money where ConsumerWatch UK are unable. My Utility Genius Ltd. will separately process the data you provide for the sole purposes of carrying out the calculation, quote, and creation of the switch application directly relating to your instructions. We may also identify suitable vendors in similar service markets that we believe may be of benefit to you based on what we already know.
We do not sell or rent your information to 'data brokers' where we are unable to identify who your data is shared with.
Data protection law requires us to rely on one or more lawful grounds to process your personal information. We consider the following grounds to be relevant:

We may use your contact details to provide you with information about the products and services you can buy, if we think it may be of interest to you.

Accessing your information from outside of Europe
As part of the services offered to you through this website, the information which you provide to us may be accessed only by countries outside the European Economic Area (“EEA”). By way of example, this may happen if any of our servers are from time to time located in a country outside of the EEA or where our contact centre partners are located outside of the EEA. Your data will never be transferred, stored, edited or deleted by any organisation or system located outside of the EEA. If your personal data is accessed from outside of the EEA in this way, we will ensure that appropriate security measures are employed so that your privacy rights continue to be protected as outlined in this policy.
If you use our services while you are outside the EEA, your information may be transferred outside the EEA in order to provide you with those services.
We undertake regular reviews of who has access to information that we hold to ensure that your info is only accessible by appropriately trained staff, volunteers and contractors.
When you receive a call from our appointed contact centres you will be advised that the call is being recorded for training and quality purposes. The calls are stored in a secure UK based data centre. They are accessed to ensure that the energy advisors have correctly addressed your questions, have advised you appropriately on your options and where you have requested to switch to another energy tariff or supplier agreement, that the verbal contract has been handled in a legally and technically compliant way.
The calls that result in a completed verbal contract for switching energy supplier will also be accessed for the same reasons by the energy supply company that you have agreed to join.
